BEE Scholarships Ready to Release 2020 Scholarships

BEE High School, and Se Vale Soñar Scholarships ready for students to request

Albuquerque, NM, December 6th, 2020: It is once again that time of year, as students begin preparation for life after high school. 2020 will be BEE Scholarships’ sixth year offering high school scholarships and the second year offering the Se Vale Soñar Scholarship, a scholarship for first generation, low-income, Latino(a) students for grades 9-12.

Nearly thirty students have used their scholarships funds and laptops to continue their education. Their stories are unique, inspiring, and can be found by clicking here. The first years’ scholarship helped support students graduate from Smith College and Yale University, while still helping other students continue their studies at the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State, Central New Mexico Community College, and Fort Lewis.

The first year of the Se Vale Soñar Scholarship was a huge success, as we were able to reward three students respective laptops and iPads.

“The first year of having the Se Vale Soñar Scholarship was good!” said Daisy Astorga, who started the scholarship. Astorga personally met with and gave the awards to the recipients, which she found to be exciting. “It was important for us to get to know them, and offer our advice, support, and help beyond awarding laptops. We surprised each recipient with an iPad in addition to the laptop. They were very excited and happy!”

“We are hoping to be able to award more laptops this year. We also want to reach students across Albuquerque and New Mexico,” said Astorga. To find out more about the Se Vale Soñar Scholarship, its mission, and story, please click here.

We look forward to helping more students this year. If you know a senior in high school and a first generation, low-income, Latino(a) student in grades 9-12, please direct them to our website. For seniors, they can visit our high school scholarship request page by clicking here. Students looking for the Se Vale Soñar application, can click here.
